How Sovra Works

What is Sovra and how does it work?

Sovra is an app that gives you an international dollar account. You can hold digital dollars, earn on them, spend them with a card, and send them anywhere, all from your phone. Only you can access your funds. Not even Sovra can.

What is Sovra, in plain words?

Sovra lets you keep your money in dollars that you hold directly, instead of handing them to an institution that holds them for you. The app makes this as simple as any finance app you have used, while the ownership stays with you the whole time.

What can you do with it?

Four things. Hold dollars that keep their value. Earn a return on them, paid by real borrowers, not by Sovra. Spend them anywhere with a virtual card. Send and receive money across borders in seconds.

What is it built on?

Your dollars are digital dollars, backed one to one and issued by a regulated US company. They live on an open network called Base, in a wallet that only you control. Established lending markets generate the yield, and licensed partners run the banking, card, and local payment services. Sovra builds the app that ties it all together, and never touches the money. The next entry covers each layer.

Who is Sovra for?

Anyone who wants their money to be safe, accessible, and working for them, without depending on any single institution to make that possible. You can use Sovra without ever thinking about the technology underneath. And if you are curious, this guide walks through every layer.
