How Sovra Works

What happens when you move money on Sovra?

Every path into Sovra ends the same way: digital dollars land in your wallet, in your custody. And nothing leaves your wallet without your approval. Here is what happens on each path.

What happens when I send to another Sovra user, and why is it instant and free?

It is a direct transfer from your wallet to theirs on the Base network, with no intermediary holding the money in between. The network confirms it in seconds. The network charges a small fee for every transaction, and Sovra covers it, so sending is free for you.

How does a bank transfer become digital dollars?

In supported regions, the app gives you exact transfer details to use (SEPA in Europe, ACH or Wire in the US). You, your employer, or anyone sending you money uses them like normal bank details. A licensed banking partner receives the transfer, converts it into USDC, and delivers it to your wallet. Use the details exactly as shown in the app, so the transfer is matched to your account. Bank transfers typically settle in up to two business days.

How do local payment methods become digital dollars?

In supported regions, you connect with a local Sovra partner and transact with them using the payment methods available in your country. The partner receives your local currency and credits the equivalent USDC to your wallet. From that moment it is in your custody like any other balance.

What happens when I pay with the card?

Your card runs on a spending balance that you top up from your wallet, held with the licensed partner that issues the card. When you pay, the partner converts your dollars into local currency at the till, so the card works like any other card in the shop. You choose how much sits on the card at any time, and everything else stays in your own custody. Entry 6 explains this distinction fully.

Why are some options available in some places and not others?

Banking, card, and local payment services are run by licensed partners, and licenses are regional. After you sign up, the app shows you exactly what is available where you live. Holding dollars, earning, and sending to Sovra users or wallet addresses work everywhere.
